Hydroponics is a type of horticulture and a subset of hydroculture, which is a method of growing plants, usually crops, without soil, by using mineral nutrient solutions in an aqueous solvent.Hydroponics rely on the use of growing mediums to ensure that plants have a place to anchor, and benefit from stability . Growing media also provide heat insulation, moisture and protect roots from lights.
